I went to High Road for a general check-up on my 2003 Honda CR-V that was getting close to 200k. They were a bit higher priced than other shops, but it was absolutely worth it for the convenience, speed, and service. I was able to book an appointment quickly; I received a complimentary loaner car; I loved their very detailed reports on everything my car-baby needed; and the turnaround time for the work I had performed was 24 hours. Communication was easy and great – primarily text message which I found worked a lot more efficiently than playing phone tag! I would recommend this shop to anyone wanting peace of mind and an easy experience for their car troubles. They failed to catch a very glaring missing part during a complete inspection I paid $168 after tax for. The staff were kind and the process with simple and easy. The line item of what was inspected and given actual measurements on include tire tread, 12v battery health, wiper blade wear, headlight yellowing, noticing soft operation of shock absorbers, coolant condition, and brakes. The estimates given for each were pretty fair – $60 for both wipers, $350 for 12v battery replacement (it’s about 30 minutes of labor and a $170 part on my hybrid). A few other recommendations for replacement of consumable parts/fluids were made based on assumptions of mileage and age without knowing service history – such as recommending replacing the cabin air filter that I had replaced two days earlier. The line items of what was inspected was practically identical to the free Les Schwab inspection. I’m more than happy to pay a fair price for labor from a local shop and the Les Schwab deal is their unique marketing practice, so that would be fine with me if it weren’t for one glaring thing they failed to catch. The entire driver side rear wheel well was fully missing, which I learned days after the inspection from hearing how the car sounds driving in the rain. Something that would be visually caught by anyone spending 10 minutes thoroughly looking at the exterior of the car. It makes me skeptical of how thorough the inspection was, and if I’d known a few days earlier I don’t have a wheel well, I could’ve avoided potential damage caused by driving in the rain without one.

My partner and I have both been taking our cars to High Road for years. He and I have very different vehicles (he has an older Honda and I have a Prius); they provide us both with equally skilled service. Prompt phone pickup, and consistently kind, patient, competent help (I recently had a fair amount of work done which required several phone calls and I spoke with Matt every single time). No price gouging, no pressure to get extra work done, and they always provide a full report of the entire vehicle, and make notes of trends over the years (such as consistently low oil, in my case 😬). I even specifically said I wanted to have my tires rotated and was told that wasn’t actually needed at this time. I really appreciated that, because it would have been so easy for a less reputable business to just say “okay” and charge me for that service. The fact that they didn’t let me pay for unnecessary work really meant a lot to me and shows integrity and honesty. I’m so grateful to have found a mechanic that I can feel completely confident in, and I would recommend them to everyone. They show a level of care and professionalism that is hard to find.

If i lived in Seattle, I would be their best customer. I bought a car from a guy who assured me he was the sole owner, and all receipts were with the dealership, blah blah blah. I bought the car, and then discovered that he wasn’t, of course. But there was a small sticker showing that High Road had done some work on the car, when it actually belonged to a previous owner. I called them, since i had no true history on the car. Michael was great. He opened up all the receipts, and emailed me each one, so that i could see what was done on the car previously. This was really above and beyond. For every jerk person, there is a business like High Road.

My friend recommended this shop to me because he felt they were honest and did good work. I had them do a knock sensor and wheel baring the first time. Not long after I had an air leak. I love the fact that they text you to give you updates throughout the whole process. They also went above and beyond to find a rare air pump seal that prevented them from replacing the whole pump & saved me about $500. Strongly recommended!

I had recently taken my vehicle (2016 Cadillac) to the dealership I purchased it from for servicing, and was told I had a coolant leak caused by a crack in a hose that would by $400 to repair. For a second opinion (and to find a shop in the neighborhood that could help me), I went to High Road. They were able to inspect my car within the week, and found that the issue wasn’t an expensive-to-replace hose, but it was just a metal clamp that needed to be replaced. They also inspected the rest of my vehicle and gave me a very detailed description of everything they noticed and recommended, and they were happy to humbly answer any questions I had. I’ll definitely be returning to High Road for the rest of my car needs. The prices were fair, the loaner car was convenient for the day, and above all they gave me a trustworthy diagnosis and were great to interact with. Thanks!

I would highly recommend High Road – Excellent customer service and quality of work. I brought my car in due to some engine trouble, and they not only fixed that issue, but also did a full inspection on my car and found other problems that were brought to my attention. Matt and Michael were very good at communicating the issues their team saw and the progress of my repairs. They send very detailed reports for you to look over before you give them the approval to begin working. They also communicate through text, making it really easy. I do think their pricing is a bit on the high side, BUT I was extremely impressed with my car. I spent a good amount of $ on repairs and preventative maintenance, but it feels like I’ve got a brand new car now. Drives really nice and smooth, all the issues I had prior to bringing it in were fixed, and it was sparkling clean on the outside and inside. I really felt the team cared about me and my car, and did their best to fix and look at what they could. In short, their quality of work and customer service are superb, but it may come at the cost of a pricier bill. I think it’s worth the money if you have it. Oh and last thing to add – they do provide loaner cars free of charge. Very convenient. The loaner car was nothing fancy, but it did the job. And as my car was in the shop for about a week, that loaner was a life saver. I’ll definitely be coming back as long as I live in the area. Thanks High Road team!

I take my 2008 Prius to High Road Automotive for regular servicing. As with most places, an oil change can turn into something else. High Road always explains what they have found, how critical a service or repair might be, and they do what I ask on time and within their estimate. During my last service, they replaced two of my tires because they were worn. The tires came with a warranty. Less than a month later, I came to my car and discovered one of the new tires was flat. AAA put on my spare and I went back to High Road. They discovered my tire had been slashed, which was outside the warranty. Despite that, they replaced the tire at no charge. That kind of customer service is rare these days, and High Road will continue to see my Prius. They also will become our mechanics for our other vehicle, a Honda Odyssey. I am pleased to give them the highest of recommendations.

My vehicle has been quite reliable for a long time, I keep up with the maintenance, I take care of my stuff. But one day my vehicle died on me while actually driving it, rolled into a perfect curb spot like a boss in Belltown. After about 10 mins, I was able to get it restarted and get it home. I’ve never taken my vehicle to any shops in the Ballard area before, so I hit up the ol’ Yelp and read some reviews, this shop and a few others were on my list. High Road was able to have me drop off the next morning, I didn’t want to drive far as I didn’t want it to die on me again. So I dropped it off, told them what happened, they said they will diagnose it and give me a call later. Jumped on the bus and went home. They texted me and sent me an email later in the afternoon, gave them instructions with going ahead to get the repairs going, confirming some prices etc. The report they email/text you is pretty detailed and they also make recommendations on things they could handle while it is in the shop. I opted for some additional work on top of the main issue, like replacing some belts and replacing pressure caps. My vehicle was in the shop overnight but they said it would be ready by end of the next day. Came by to pick up my vehicle, it was ready when they said it would be, washed my vehicle up, prices were fairly reasonable, customer service was nice. Left and went home happy. I don’t drive everyday but in the next week, I didn’t realize there was a puddle of fluid leaking under my vehicle. After about a week or so, when I did realize it, there was an active leak coming from the radiator area. I called the shop on a Friday afternoon to see if I could drop it off and have them take a look at it again as the leak was pretty active. They said they were too busy and couldn’t take me in until the next week on Monday morning, went ahead and scheduled. I was able to find a reliable shop that was open on Saturdays, it was on the Eastside of town, a lot farther than I wanted to drive. They took care of it, they said a wrong sized pressure cap was used on my radiator and that was what caused the leak and almost make my vehicle die again. On the following Monday, I called High Road advising them that I got my issue taken care of over the weekend and the problem was resolved by another shop. I requested a refund for the work they did to my radiator pressure cap, we worked out an agreement on what they would refund me back and said they could refund the funds back on my card while they had me on the phone. It took 4 days for the refund to show up, and the amount was not what we agreed on. As a first time customer, I won’t be taking my vehicle there anymore in the future and wouldn’t recommend them. It’s a convenient location for me as I don’t live far from there, service advisors were nice guys, the prices were fine and what I was expecting for the initial repair. The taking my vehicle back to the shop, the improper repair and refund was the reason for the 1 star.

I had a knock sensor code from a check-engine light, and my friend recommended these guys and said they’re honest. They replaced the sensor and wire. They also found a wheel baring that needed to be replaced. The car is running fantastically now, and the bill was reasonable. I also like the fact that they communicate by text. I would strongly recommend them.

They’ve done a great job on my Toyota Prius, and are great at explaining which things really require fixes right away, and which can be put off.

We’ve been bringing our 2005 Honda CRV to these guys ever since we bought it, almost 15 years ago. Over that time, things have naturally needed to get fixed, routine maintenance, etc. and they have always been very transparent about what needed to be done immediately & what could be deferred. They pride themselves on keeping old cars going for as long as possible. I love the detailed written reports that they provide as it helps me to understand and explain to my spouse “what happened.” A couple years ago we needed to have brake work done and they re-did both rear brakes (sorry I don’t have the report in front of me so I can’t remember exactly what.) Anyway about a year later, one of the brakes started dragging. We brought it in, and because the part was just *barely* out of warrantly, they fixed it for free. They ate the costs of labor. Last month the other brake started dragging. (Apparently, because this is our ski car, it has a lot of rust on the brakes due to salt.) Again, they fixed it for free, eating the labor costs, and did it immediately. What incredible service! They really stand by their work and care about customer’s experience. And they are really nice people, to boot.

I’ve been taking my Honda for 8 years, and now my Toyota for 5 years, for regular preventive maintenance and oil changes. I feel that they do not try to up-sell services that are not necessary. They are good about communicating the status of your car throughout the day it’s in the shop. They’ll email a report with various items that could be repaired but don’t push to repair things that are not necessary. They have loaners if you need them and they’re super close to bus lines that get you downtown quickly.

Fixed the AC on my 2009 Civic. Thankfully didn’t require a new compressor, just some stuff adjacent to it. No complaints (other than me whining about the price of repairs, but it was much cheaper than installing a new compressor), it keeps my AC going through this summer, which buys me time to decide if I want to keep or sell my car.

As long as I’m in Seattle, I will always use High Road! This is my new favorite shop. I’m so sick of hearing things like, “We couldn’t find the leak, but don’t worry about it, it’s not that bad.” If it’s on the factory maintenance schedule, I want it done. If it leaks, I want it fixed. If I’m going to need to change it soon, I want to hear about it so I can plan for it. I want to know what condition my battery is in, and what level my oil was at when I brought the car in. I’m not paying for an oil change (I can easily do that myself). I’m paying for peace of mind and a trained eye. High Road provides both, and they’re friendly too! If all you want is a quick and cheap oil change, or for a mechanic to piecemeal your car along, this is not the place for you. If you don’t mind paying a few extra bucks for a mechanic that isn’t going to cut corners, this is the place to go.

I brought my Subaru into High Road to get a quote on repair. They looked my car over and even showed me where the damage and the car was having problems. They explained to me the cost and work needed and reccomended against the repairs. They were honest and admitted to me that I was better off trading it in because of the extent of repairs needed. The overall costomer service from the first phone call, to the explanation of the estimate really made me feel like I was talking to an honest and professional team. They even equipped me with a loaner car at no charge. I look forward to using High Road in the future and reccomend them to anyone looking to service their car.

I thought I should add my two cents, as I’m surprised at the extent of the positive reviews. I think they do good work, as much as I can tell not knowing nearly anything about cars, but they are very pricey. Pricing is mostly upfront, just don’t be surprised if they max out the 10% estimate overage they are allowed. I spent over two grand there, and when things went a little south, customer service went downhill quickly. So if you own a high-end Japanese vehicle (but not all Japanese vehicles, according to the customer service person after I had work done and questioned billing), cost is not a major concern, and you like things just being taken care of with no muss or fuss, this is the place for you, otherwise keep lookin’.

Just wanted to add one more 5-star review for High Road because they deserve it. The employees are kind and trustworthy. I moved to Seattle from Ohio and didn’t have any word of mouth recommendations to go off of for a car shop. I chose High Road because of all the good reviews on Yelp, and I’m so glad I did. I have an old Toyota that needs a lot of work. Like everyone else mentioned, they will generate a report for you that documents the repeats you need now, in a few months, and within a year. This is helpful for me because I can send the report to my dad for a second opinion. I also want to highlight the level of customer service at High Road. They will provide a loaner car if you need one. I took my car in on a Friday and couldn’t make it back by the end of the day, so they let me use the loaner all weekend. The second time I took my car in, I had a crazy day at work and completely forgot to go back to High Road by 5:30 to pick up my car. The owner called me to say that the repairs were completed, they were closing, and I could pick it up on Monday. I frantically told him that I needed my car this weekend. He and another employee stayed late until 6:00 so that I could hurry over and pick up my car before they closed. I so appreciated that and the human touch of how they run their business.

They are the most honest people you can find. My AC in lexus IS205 was making some loud noises. Lexus dealership said it will cost $125 just to see what’s the problem and extra for fixing it. I went to High Road with keeping $$$ budget in my mind but they fixed it for free because it was a piece of plastic that got stuck in A/C – they removed it for free. They could have charged me $$$ if they wanted. Also their service is amazing. I am probably their biggest referrer right now.

I’ve been coming to High Road Automotive for about a year and will continue coming here even after I sell my old car. This shop specializes in maintaining old vehicles. Pam and her team are great – they are never pushy with what needs to be done on my car. When I was on a college budget, they told me the essentials that needed to be fixed to maximize the life of my car. The best example of how committed they are to their customers is when I was driving across the state from Spokane to Seattle. My car started making a roaring noise; I freaked out, called them, and asked what it could be based on my prior inspection reports. Pam listened to my car via the phone and gave her best guesses to what the problem was without seeing it. I truly appreciate that she took the time to try and make sure I was safe!

Found High Road on Yelp. I just moved into town and saw I needed an oil change so I gave them a call. They explained they are more than just an oil change place and that they do a full car inspection, so they’re oil change is going to be a little more than the average person’s oil change. Which I was fine with. I dropped my car off in the morning, they emailed me an inspection report mid afternoon and also gave me a call. The laundry list inspection was a little overwhelming to get. Change breaks $360, change shock absorbers $490, change drive belt $120, and it goes on and on…. well I know I just changed my drive belt end of December 2015, and it’s April 2016, so truly I do not need to change my drive belt…. ya’ll get the gist. I went in for an oil change and that’s what I got. I got nothing extra. Friendly service, they were not pushy with getting things “fixed”. Oil change for my Mazda came out closer to $60. This review has been long over due. I’ve been taking my cars to high road since 2008 I believe when I started working down in Ballard due to convenience. But they have stood the test of time with their work, quality of service, and honestly. My husband and I own an Acura 2004 TSX and 2007 RDX. I grew up with my grandpa and uncle always tinkering with cars so I know when to call BS on someone. What I love about high road is their level of honesty and no pressure atmosphere. They keep logs on a computer data base of everything they have done on your car so you don’t have to play with paper “check off lists” like you get from other auto shops. I would have to say the best part of High Road is not only do they keep track of what they have done on your car, but they also have a section in their report of “Upcoming” items that will need to be done (with levels of importance, ie. Needs immediate attention now, prevent maintenance, manuf recommendation, ect) with an estimated price so you can plan financially and maintain the health of your car at your pace. Most other shops I’ve had my car at just tell you to follow the manufacture recommendation and most minor/major schedule. And the annoying part with those are that you don’t even know what the heck they did with your car. At highroad, it’s listed out VERY clear what they did, fix, switched out ect. Oh, and if they find something different they always call to get your clearance and give you explanation before they proceed. This has saved me time so I didn’t have to schedule another time to take the car in. Another thing I want to mention in this review is the difference of our cars health and durability because of the recommendations High Road does to/for our vehicles. My husband’s TSX was purchased brand new back in 2004 and we’ve own that car for well over 10 years now. The car is close to 200k and we haven’t had any major issues thus far. Our cousin bought his TSX at the same time we did and has less miles and is having issues left and right and he only takes his to the dealership. We’ve followed the recommendations from high road like clock work, changed parts, belts, sensors, ect… up until they suggested we change the ‘Struts’. We were like, what is that? So what do we do? we call Acura dealerships, look up forms ect…and we didn’t really find that it is a part that needs to be changed, nor was it an item in their required maintenance schedule to swap out. Plus my uncle told us strut swaps aren’t necessary unless you race. After we gathered all our info we decided not to change them due to it costing around $1,500. We were thinking, maybe they are just trying to rip us off. We continued to drive the car for another year or two and talked to High Road again about it and gave in, bit the bullet, and swapped it out when we had to do breaks, since it would be a little cheaper. OMG, was I in for a surprise. After they put in new struts in the TSX, I noticed IMMEDIATELY how smooth, and how much more agile the car drove. I wished that the drive home was actually longer so I could enjoy driving the car more. When my husban dgot home the next day from work (after he got his car back), he asked me if I picked up the correct car from High Road cause his noticed how AWESOME/smooth/tight his car drove, his direct words were “Are you sure you picked up the right car? It drives like a new one”. I told him, we should have listened to High Road and changed the struts when they suggested, given they haven’t ever really steered us wrong. Thank you High Road for helping us maintain our cars! I’m sure we won’t have any issues as we creep up toward the 300k mile mark! Until then, I hope this review helps!

I’ve been servicing my car at high road automotive for about 2 years now. They never fail to update me on NEEDED repairs on my car. Every time I go in for an oil check, they’ve got a print out of the status of my vehicle. I have a Subaru Baja and I am very particular on who works on my car. I prefer Subaru specialists and these are definitely the right people! I am happy to say I have now found my “local garage” for all future repairs. I had a great experience with their staff. They are very nice, easy to work with, and pay attention to what you’re saying. This is such a refreshing experience! Not only did they fix my issue in a quick time-frame, but they went above and beyond with their inspection! They looked over my whole car beyond the issue to make sure it was operating at it’s best. Since I drive my car for my job, it was nice knowing that High Road had my back. High Road truly deserves the “as good as it gets” rating with Yelp, and if there were six stars they’d earn it. To them, “high road” is more than a name. Their goal is to make sure your car continues to perform at its very best for as long as it can, well after all the warranties have expired. The pricing is fair, particularly considering their willingness to tell you what you don’t need to have done. If trust had a dollar value, they’d be wealthy. The technicians are solid, and totally professional. The best. The whole experience is totally positive – even when things go wrong. All the folks who work there have a long-term perspective, and it shows every time you walk through the door. I have told everybody I can about High Road, and will continue to do so.

Can’t say enough good things about High Road. This is my first ever Yelp review so that is saying something. My Subaru Impreza has 54,000 miles on it so I took it to a local shop to get the oil and filter changed. Maybe 15 minutes after leaving the shop I get a call with a list of things that my car “needs” done. Things like check suspension/steering, change the air filter, change the alternator belt, check axle shaft boots. Now, I consider myself someone who takes pretty decent care of their car, so I was pretty sure I didn’t need the majority of these services. Based on this I said no to the services offered, and had them just do the oil and filter change until I could look over my records. After picking up my car I looked at the list they had printed of the suggested services. Granted most of them were just simple inspection tasks like checking suspension/steering, but there was also the air filter and alternator belt. This shop estimated the new air filter and belt would cost ~$130 together and the labor for everything would be ~$240. What? This was on top of already paying $79 for the new oil and filter. Needless to say I was glad I turned down these services as I went and looked over my service records and inspected my alternator belt and was confident I didn’t need any of these services suggested. But being a reasonable person I wanted to get a second opinion to make sure I wasn’t wrong (as I am no car expert). I called up High Road Auto and described the situation and made an appointment for later that week. I drop my car off at High Road in the morning at 7:30am on Friday. I am told they like to do a complete assessment of any car new to their shop so they can get a good baseline of all the systems and services currently performed and any that might need to be done based on urgency. I am told this will take a couple hour and I should hear back from them early afternoon with a complete assessment and any suggestions for services or other necessary actions. Well, 1:45 pm rolls around and I get a call from High Road and am told that my car is in great shape and needs no services or maintenance done, and that I can come pick it up at my convenience. So, I come by the shop to pick up my car expecting to pay some amount for the roughly 5 hours of labor time they spent inspecting every part of my car only to find out there is no charge for the labor and there is absolutely no cost. I will definitely be taking my car back to High Road for any future service and will recommend them to anybody.

I walked into Firestone today in hopes of buying a long lasting IPhone charger because my old one broke (Apple brand) they usually break every 4 months or so for me. A nice young male approached me to help me find one; he gave me options of many different IPhone chargers made by different companies so I can weigh out my options. He told me how much each one cost but I didn’t care too much about the price, I was more worried about which one would last me the longest. He asked me how my other IPhone chargers break so quick and I told him that the cord usually rips; he recommended I get the IPhone charger with the thicker cord. He promised that the charger would last me at least 8 months. I bought it then he recommended that I put a 3-year warranty on it just incase it breaks, which only cost me 10 dollars more. In the end I saved more money than I would if I were to go to the Apple store and buy a charger that would only last me 3 months. I was very satisfied in what I purchased and the great customer service. The young mans honest, helpful advice led me to get exactly what I was looking for. He was very understanding and patient with me, it’s very rare that I come across workers like him, so I was very impressed.

My truck was towed here and I feel very fortunate to have found ’em. Due to another garage’s inferior work (if you consider A-arm bolts falling out inferior), they diagnosed it, offered to take pictures, suggested talking points for a fair resolution with the other garage, provided a loaner car, and essentially provided fantastic customer service. Although they won’t be doing the repairs this time, I do plan on being a repeat customer.

I wish I could say I had been a paying customer but these guys but they refused to take my money after providing me an incredible service. I had taken my low mile vehicle to the factory dealership to find out I needed over $3K in repairs not covered by my power train warranty, obviously I wanted a second opinion. I called High Road, they listened, were pleasant and knowledgable, and said they get back to me after they looked into this further. They did in fact call back, provided an cheaper estimate on the work but asked that I first just bring it in so they could take a look free of charge as this seemed fishy and they’d provide me a free loaner. The next day they had unfortunately confirmed the repairs were needed but surprisingly recommended I get it repaired at another factory dealership so that I could more easily handle my dispute with the manufacturer and even provided some guidance on how who I should be trying to contact. I retuned the loaned with a little less than 3/4 of a tank after having had it for 36hrs and they refused payment for even the gas and stayed late to wait for me after work. They topped of the leaking fluids so I could limp it to the other shop and ultimately the repairs were done and I won my dispute with the manufacturer. These guys rule and will be getting referred by me whenever I’m asked. Best shop in Seattle, honest, knowledgable experts, and thorough!

Adding another great review to High Road! I was having some issue with my VW GTI and was reluctant to take it into a shop out of fear I would be overcharged. I did what work I could on my own but was unsuccessful in fixing the issue. As a result I decided to call High Road based on user reviews and I am happy I did. The overall experience was fantastic, prompt, and they even offered to stay late on a Friday night if needed so I could pick up my car. What really earned my trust was the initial phone conversation I had when making the appointment. The gentleman explained that he wanted to gather as much info as possible beforehand as to do research and hopefully save time (which saved me money) I give my recommendation to High Road.

In addition to taking my cars here for maintenance, I’ve had them check out my last used car before I purchased it, which was awesome, because I got to know exactly what issues I was purchasing, rather than the big question mark that often accompanies used cars. I drive my car in from Snohomish County because of the great customer service I get here.

I took my Tacoma to these guys because of the good review on Yelp. I have had good luck if I follow the Yelp reviews. So my truck was having a few issues and when I called them up, they were pleasant and had a loaner car for me to use! They called with status updates and answered all my questions with no hesitations. When I picked up my truck, they were not pushy nor expensive for the items I had asked them to look at. Their answers were straight to the point and didn’t hide anything. I will be bringing my truck back if it ever has any issues in the future. It is often hard to find mechanics that don’t push around females. I hate to say it that way, but it can be true. So thanks guys at High Road Automotive for keeping up your reputation!

I took my car to High-Road auto BECAUSE of its rating here on Yelp. A few things went wrong…which usually doesn’t end up in me giving a 5-star rating to a place of business. A simple human-error was made on their part that resulted in some damage to the body of my car but they made it right. MORE than right. How this situation was handled and the integrity and honesty displayed by everyone working at High-Road proves that they are worthy of 5 stars. I will recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. They are great. Truly HONEST, REPUTABLE, and they employ salt-of-the-earth human beings. Not once did I feel like I was being sold on something I didn’t need. Nor did I feel like I do in most auto-shops which is that the mechanics are trying to take advantage of my lack of car knowledge. (“Ma’am…you’re blinker fluid is low so we are going to need to replace that, too. $50.” I work with a gal who actually fell for this!) The way they owned up to their error and the solution proposed let me know that I was dealing with a group a very good people. What happened to my car could have happened at any mechanic shop. It probably does on the daily. And most places would just sweep it under the rug and hope you didn’t notice. Or not take full accountability. Or just not even be honest about how it occurred. Or not offer to cover expenses or waive the costs of the repairs already done (which they did for me). I am 100% convinced that the great way they took care of me and the way they resolved the situation (with the scales tipping heavily in my favor) could only have happened at High-Road auto. I am so thankful this is where I took my car to get fixed. Even despite them accidentally breaking my hood. I highly HIGHLY recommend this place.

Exceptional service is how this shop was referred to me by a friend and exceptional service is what I have received. I have been bringing my Honda Crv there for 2 years and have always had a pleasant experience, solid work done and a non pushy attitude. No one is trying to force me to do work that may or may not be needed. Everything has always been explained well to me. The reason I am prompted today to write this review is because my car battery died (I ran it out) just a block or so away from their shop. I am an AAA member but I knew that I was so close to hi road and because they have always been so helpful maybe that could assist…. They could:) Mike was able to come and assist me and my car. I would not have wanted to put anyone out and would have happily called AAA if needed, but because Mike was able to help, he did. Today, I’m a little ashamed of my own automotive idiocy, but very grateful for High Road Automotive’s integrity. I recently blew out a relatively new tire (somehow ran over a chard of metal, awesome) and even though High Road hadn’t put the new tires on, given the great work they’ve done for me in the past, they were the first place I thought to stop by. They told me they’d order my replacement tire and let me know when it was ready. After I had already stopped by, I realized I should probably call the shop that had put the tires on, just in case. I was actually shocked to find out that my prior purchase was still covered and I could have my tire replaced for free. I called High Road as soon as I found out, but it was too late, they had already received and mounted my tire… Nonetheless, they agreed to give me back my old tire so that I could take it to the other shop for free replacement. Because of me they likely wasted a lot of time and hassle for nothing. While I don’t like doing that, I’m in place where I need to save as much money as I can. A crappy situation all around. High Road has always been honest, reliable, trustworthy, and worth the cost of their work by any measure, but today they went above and beyond. I feel bad that my mistake has put them out, but I also know that there’s no where else I’ll be taking my car after this debacle. Car stuff will always come up, and from here on out only High Road will get my money. Bottom line: You’ll never regret going to High Road Automotive. These are good people who do excellent work, and one of the few businesses left in this world who truly has their customers’ best interests at heart.

I’ve been coming here for many years, and have always liked their service. I own a Civic Hybrid, bought new 11 yrs. ago, and the hybrid battery came to the end of its useful life a couple months ago. Back when the car was new, I was told that it would cost approx. $10,000 to replace the hybrid battery, so was pleased when High Road estimated ~$4400 for replacement. High Road went further and suggested I get a quote from a Honda dealer. The dealer’s quote was ~$3800, plus Honda gave me a 50% discount (as near as I can tell, just because I asked). I would have been satisfied to pay the $4400, but ended up paying less than $2000 for a brand-new hybrid battery, partly because Honda stands behind their product, mostly because High Road has an ethic of giving the best service possible to their customers.

We love these guys. You can find cheaper auto service elsewhere but you will not find anything near the experience, integrity, honesty, respect, and craft that these guys have. And that makes the price more than worth it. Really this is the best value for servicing your Japanese car in Seattle. One thing you’ll love is the full inspection report you’ll receive with clear price quotes and level of severity. Other places provide this too but they usually come with the vibe of a high-pressure sale. You’ve probably experienced this. The mechanic will say, “I just want to go over a few things on the report with you,” and you’ll start to feel like they are just coughing up a bunch of made-up repairs into a report and telling you that it needs to be fixed right now. But I’ve never received that vibe from High Road. They are very thorough in their report, but they also are clear about things that should be done but don’t absolutely need to be done today. I grew up working on cars with my dad so I have a good BS-detector for that stuff and they have always been perfectly honest about the condition of our car.

My ex wife liked to remind me every so often that she’d known these guys longer than she knew me. Her first experience with them was sometime in ’88 I believe. When they fixed a minor problem for her for free when she drove up concerned one day. (back then I believe they were called “Dr. Honda” * ) Of course, when I entered my wife’s life I was skeptical. It took me a few years, but they won me over. ** Tom, Fred, Don, and the rest of the crew provide solid analysis of what needs doing, excellent explanations, and an attitude of partnership with you in caring for your car. *They now service pretty much all Japanese makes. ** To give you an idea of how much they have won me over, even though my wife and I have split we will share custody of the mechanic. ***I save 5 star ratings for perfection. Since perfection is so rare my highest ratings tend to have been fours. If you own a honda, acura, or toyota do yourself a favor and check them out.

15 years ago a co-worker told me about High Road Automotive and I took my Acura there until I traded it in. The service was fantastic. Fair prices and always a job well done. I didn’t know they worked on other autos besides Honda and Acura, or I would have taken my Toyota as soon as it was out of warranty These guys are still amazing and above all fair and honest. We have been going to High Road for almost 10 years now with the same car (and it was old when we started going)! They are expensive, but have a great ethic. I really appreciate that when they tell us what they find wrong with the car they give recommended priorities for repair and preventative maintenance. We take routine things like oil changes, muffler work and tires to where it is cheaper and save High Road for at least an annual check and anything non routine. They have kept our car going at a cost much cheaper than I would expect given its high mileage. We love High Road so much that we are only looking at cars brands that they work on as a replacement to our current car.

Went here because of Yelp. Will be going back whenever I have car problems because of the service. I had a last minute headlight that needed some rewiring. Because I was headed over the pass that evening I needed it done within 1.5 hours. Less than 30 minutes later I had my headlamp fixed and it was very affordable. Let’s just say that there is a reason that you are not seeing anything less than 4 stars on here.

After the 1994 Acura Integra I bought new went out of warranty, the dealership stopped being very interested in working on it, so I switched to High Road Automotive, based on their ads on NPR. I have never been sorry that I did. My main goals for car care are reliability and longevity, and High Road has achieved them. I second what the other reviews have said about High Road’s thoroughness and integrity. They are fair and honest, and the quality of their work makes the price worth paying; the peace of mind I get is priceless. Their thorough inspections at oil change times identify potential problems as well as immediate, short-term and long-term routine maintenance items so I can plan ahead and avoid trouble. If I call in with symptoms, they take the car right away and diagnose the issue, including researching the service records to see what the history is. It feels as if they know my car– not just the make and model, but that particular car itself. If work is needed, they do the job right the first time, and they stand behind it. I appreciate the loaners, too. Gallagher, Pam and the owners and crew seem to be genuinely interested in what is going on with my car; it doesn’t seem like just another transaction to them. They make my car’s age seem like a matter of pride rather than a liability. The trip from Lynnwood to Ballard and back is a long, hard slog that I moan about, but it is worth it.

I’m a huge fan of this place! So glad my husband found this place. They are friendly, professional, and very thorough. I especially love the clear print-outs they give us with a detailed diagnostic and recommendations for future servicing to keep our Honda Pilot and Toyota Camry in tip top shape. Gallagher is super knowledgeable and friendly. He loves to teach and is patient about explaining anything you ask him. They are not pushy over there either, which makes the whole experience of going there all the more pleasant.

They’re good men. And thorough. Whenever you take your car in they give you a prioritized list of what should be done and help you plan when it will all get done. They’re really honest about a “you could crash and die” problem vs a “you might want to get this fixed at some point” problem. I’ve never had to leave my car there longer than they said I would. When I took my old beater car there, I got a big list of costly things to fix, but I also got a talking-to from Josh who said “honestly, you should just trade this car in and get a different one rather than having us fix all these things.” So I did, and now High Road gets 100% of my business for my new, in-great-shape car!

If you want to take good care of your car and keep it on the road after 200,000 miles, do yourself a favor and take it to the team at High Road. I’m still driving my 1991 Honda Accord wagon and I’m over 200,000 miles now thanks to the care that I get at High Road. I’ve been taking my car to them since the late 1990s and they do a great job–they’re efficient, competitively priced, take the time to explain what they’re doing and why, and their customer service can’t be beat! This Spring, I drove my car cross-country to the East coast and back without any problems. I never would have felt confident doing this if I didn’t totally trust my mechanic.

I usually take my Honda to a dealership, but every time I do, I end up with a problem i didnt have before I took it in…funny how that works. So i decided I wanted to support a local Ballad business and found High Road. I’m so glad I did!!! Gallagher was super friendly and service was fast. When my parents car broke down at my house, I was left thinking “Great who do I call now?” Yelp came up with quite a few options. I was a bit overwhelmed. I made it simple and picked High Road Automotive….and glad I did! Josh (service manager) was awesome. Not only did he explain to me what needed to be done, but he also took another call from my dad (who probably had more questions than I did) to explain to him too. The price was reasonable! Oh, High Road. It is so nice to know that you can bring your car to your mechanic and have Josh the service manager know who you are, ask about your kids, tell you about his rugby match, and remember every.single.quirk about your car, its history, and its past service. I have never once thought that I was getting anything less than the best, most honest service out there while having my cars worked on at High Road. We have an older Civic that has been stolen repeatedly/rear-ended/picked up by a tornado (for real) and it is… a little finicky. We also have a newer Subaru that has much more straightforward needs. Both cars are well-served at High Road. I hate to give them only four stars, but… they are too pricey to justify five. I know in my heart of hearts I’d rather be paying what each service actually is worth and not have my mechanic make repairs up so I’ll pay more money, but every time I get a bill there I wince a little, knowing it would be less elsewhere. To their credit, for one repair they actually *recommended* that I get some AC work done elsewhere even though they could do it, because someone else would do it for less. That is a little bizarro to me, but whatever. I am willing to drive to their super-out-of-the-way (for me) Ballard location despite the fact that I live in South Beacon Hill and work in Wedgwood because I trust them so much. If, like me, you aren’t the kind of person who knows if a mechanic is making s*** up, High Road is a great place.

High Road is great. My family has been faithfully taking their cars there for years and we have all been very happy with the experience. They are not the cheapest mechanics ever, but they are very thorough and honest. My husband was in town today to purchase a used car. He took it to High Road for an inspection. It was $160, but it was the most thorough inspection ever and took about 3 hours. They revealed a lot of subtleties about the car that did not show up on the CarFax and of course the dealership was not going to reveal them. They recommended that the car was only worth about half of what it was being priced at, so of course we did NOT buy it.

I’m actually kind of glad that my relatively new Civic is no longer under warranty. For some reason I felt compelled to take it to the dealer while it was under warranty. Now I get to drive out of my way and take it to my favorite trusty mechanic s- the folks at High Road Automotive. Back in 1994 I bought a used (1986 – 60,000 miles) Acura Integra. High Road gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be addressed in order of priority, marking the items that were safety issues, those that should be addressed soon and those that can wait. In the 12 years I owned the car that list never was completely without some maintenance issue to anticipate but my car was NEVER off the road in need of repair. These guys are pro-active and not the least expensive auto mechanics you’ll find, and they only work on Honda, Toyota, Nissan & Subaru products (I think), but they are great mechanics, easy to work with and honest as can be. I want nothing more from my auto repair dudes and look forward to dealing with these folks again soon. I trust that they’ll keep my 2006 Civic running trouble free for the next 15+ years.

OMG. Found these guys thru Yelp – I OWE YOU ALL BIG-TIME. Amazingly customer-service oriented. Gave me a classic Honda Accord loaner, I didn’t have to beg. E-mailed me a comprehensive report on the state of my car (Nissan XTerra), which I read while sitting in a Ballard coffee shop, after picking up some things at the practically next-door Trader Joe’s. Only drawback: I love Ballard, but navigating there is like trying to find the way out of Hell. Google maps is as likely to get you killed as get you where you’re going. So now you know how much I like High Road – I’d drive in Ballard to take my car there.

Why have I left High Road languishing at four stars all this time? My mistake, they really are great. Still not sure if they are the cheapest mechanic around, but they are the friendliest and most honest that I’ve run into. When I had to have warranty work done, they called Honda and checked my VIN number to make sure I was eligible, explained the warranty extension and recommended the dealership with the most helpful customer service before they sent me on my way. I appreciate these guys more every time they work on my car.

Best place to take your Honda in Seattle, hands down. Fast, friendly, thorough and honest. FYI- they inspect every little detail. The first time I brought in my car I was shocked at the bottom line estimate- I let expletives fly right in front of the guy at the desk (to which he grinned and grimaced) and then I realized that many of the items listed were suggested fixes. My car is about to turn over 200k- partly due to the folks at High Road.

I can’t imagine why there aren’t more reviews for High Road. I generally have had decent experiences with car repair and maintenance places (since I am serious about regular maintenance for my cars) but High Road is something special. They’ll examine the car and make you a list of all the things that are going to need work, and list the priorities. By following their recommendations and getting regular oil changes and checkups, you can be assured that your car won’t surprise you with a breakdown. I wouldn’t take my cars anywhere else.

I love these guys. The service is so good at this place that it actually makes me happy to get my oil changed. I love that they’re super friendly. I love that they’re trustworthy. I love that their prices *seem* to be reasonable. I love that they take time to explain things clearly to the mechanically-challenged. My absolute favorite thing about this shop is that they are tuned in to the digital age. I leave my car with these guys for a day every three (or four or five) months – they do an oil change and a thorough inspection. Half way through the day, they *email* me a PDF that summarizes all of the issues they found in their inspection. Everything is prioritized based on safety, importance, etc. They then call me and talk me through the PDF. They make recommendations on what I should have fixed and what can wait. They give totally pragmatic advice on how long I should wait on safety issues. I never feel like they’re trying to talk me into doing something that’s not really necessary. Thanks to them, my little ’95 Honda Civic will keep on kickin’ for many years to come. Thanks, High Road!
