The season of love is here, Seattle! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, what better time to consider our loved ones and the vehicles that make our special time together possible? Seeing that we are firmly entrenched in winter, pouring rain and all, it is even more important to consider how we can show our vehicles a little love; to make sure we make it to the sunny months in the best shape possible.

Seattle’s weather is hard on our vehicles. High precipitation rates, high humidity (ranging 60-80%, usually), and salty ocean air combine to make some rough driving conditions. Moisture is the enemy of our vehicle in so many ways; it creates opportunities for rust, mold, and debris to gather and create real problems. With Seattle’s unique conditions and driving safety in mind, now is a great time to show our vehicles some love and look after some of their more basic but critical components. Here are 3 ways to show your car some love this Valentine’s season:

Clean Off The Salt – As we know, we’ve recently experienced a long snow event. When it snows, salt is applied to the road to keep things in control and create safer driving conditions. While this improves driving safety, it is terrible for our vehicles. Exposure to salt can cause all sorts of problems, leading to rusting in your brakes, shocks, and more; you want to wash it off as soon as it is safe to do so. Our local car washes can help you get your vehicle fresh and clean for the February fun.

Alignment – The snow has been hard on our vehicles. All of those bumps in the snow and the slushy/muddy conditions jar our wheels left and right, causing imbalances. Take your vehicle in for an alignment and have it feeling like a superstar, again!

Fluid Exchange/Filter Replacement – Beyond your standard oil exchange, your vehicle has other fluids that need regular servicing and attention to keep it functioning in its best shape. Really show your vehicle some love and have its coolanttransmission fluidbrake fluid, and fuel system inspected. A shop like High Road Automotive will replace your fluid filters when we exchange your fluid as well; this is critical because it keeps harmful debris from accumulating in your fluid system, causing dangerous blockages and potential failures.

Check Engine Light Inspection – Have you seen a check engine light come on; or any sort of dashboard light that you don’t recognize? You definitely want to get that checked sooner than later, as it might be the first sign of a much bigger issue. We look at your check engine light like your vehicle’s early warning radar; it tells us that something is up, and we want to look at that as soon as possible! High Road Automotive has industry-leading technology that gives us a detailed report, allowing us to accurately diagnose the source of the problem and give you the information you need to move forward.

Tire Service & Replacement – Nothing says “showing your vehicle some love” like a new set of tires! From the ground up, your tires are the first point of contact between your vehicle and the rough road condition we ask it to traverse. Having unbalanced tires, worn tires, or tires that aren’t regularly rotated can lead to bigger problems. You might not notice it, but your vehicle deals with that stress every moment that it operates, and it will cause a problem down the road. Bring out the best gift you can get and consider a tire service or tire replacement! When you get new tires, we pride ourselves on our ability to dispose of your previous ones ethically. We are a clean shop, and that means clean disposal, too!
