Positioned in the center each rear suspension trailing arm, these bushings are designed to keep the rear suspension rigid and stable. However, when the rubber webs of this bushing begin to tear the rear suspension looses it rigidity and allows the rear of the vehicle to steer unpredictably in the rear. In extreme conditions this can be the difference between swerving around something in the road and loosing control of your vehicle. The failure of this part is quite common in many Civics and CR-Vs after five or more years as this bushing by its design is only supported by two main webs.
